Counselling in Arabic

Counselling in Arabic in Milton, Ontario

Counselling in Arabic (العربية) for children, teens, young adults and parents, in Milton or online.

Growing up between two cultures can raise questions that are hard to explain to someone who hasn't lived it: who you are, where you belong, and how to honour your family while finding your own path. For parents, it can mean worrying about a child who seems to be pulling away, or not knowing how to help with feelings they don't talk about.

Omniya Ali offers counselling in Arabic and English at our Milton office and online. She works with children, adolescents, young adults and families, and her sessions are offered at a reduced rate.

Meet Omniya Ali, Student Therapist

Omniya is completing her psychotherapy training at McMaster University and provides counselling under the clinical supervision of our founder, Garion Sparks-Austin, Registered Social Worker. Before training as a therapist, she worked for four years as a Child and Youth Worker in mental health and community settings.

As a first-generation immigrant, Omniya understands some of the complexities of navigating different cultures, especially during adolescence and early adulthood. Her approach is warm, collaborative and strength-based.

What Omniya can help with

  • Anxiety and worry in children and teens
  • Big emotions and emotional regulation
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Cultural identity and belonging
  • Life transitions, including the move to university or work
  • Parenting support and family communication

Working with families

Parents are welcome to be part of the process. Omniya can speak with parents in Arabic and with children or teens in whichever language they prefer, so everyone understands the goals. For young adults, sessions are a private space to talk about identity, relationships and family expectations at their own pace.

Reduced-rate sessions

Because Omniya is a supervised student therapist, her sessions are offered at a reduced rate. Ask us about current rates. Sessions are available at 243 Main St E in Milton or virtually anywhere in Ontario.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can sessions be in both Arabic and English?

Yes. Many families use both: a parent may prefer Arabic while a child or teen is more comfortable in English. Omniya adjusts to what works for each person.

What does it mean that Omniya is a student therapist?

Omniya is completing her psychotherapy training at McMaster University. She provides counselling under the regular clinical supervision of our founder, Garion Sparks-Austin, RSW, which is why her sessions are offered at a reduced rate.

Will our family's information be kept private?

Yes. Everything you share is confidential and protected under Ontario's privacy law for health information (PHIPA). Your therapist won't discuss you with anyone in your family or community without your consent, except in the rare situations the law requires, such as a serious risk to someone's safety, which your therapist will explain at your first session.

Is counselling with a student therapist covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans only reimburse registered practitioners, so student sessions may not be covered. That's one reason they're offered at a reduced rate. Check your plan, and ask us about current rates.
