Punjabi-Speaking Therapist in Milton, Ontario
Therapy in Punjabi (ਪੰਜਾਬੀ) for children, teens, adults and parents, in Milton or online.
For many Punjabi families in Milton and across Halton and Peel, mental health still isn't easy to talk about. Worries get carried quietly, or explained as stress, tiredness or "just how things are". Having someone to talk to in Punjabi can make it easier to put words to what's going on, for you or for a parent who isn't comfortable in English.
Sahar Majeed offers psychotherapy and counselling in Punjabi at our Milton office and online, as well as in English, Urdu and Hindi.

Sahar is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and six years of experience with children, adolescents and adults. Her work is collaborative and culturally responsive, and she uses approaches such as CBT, DBT skills and mindfulness, adapted to each person.

Generations under one roof
Many households include grandparents, parents and children, each with different expectations and different comfort with English. That can mean a teen who feels misunderstood, a parent caught in the middle, or an elder whose worries go unspoken. Sahar can work with children in English and speak with parents or grandparents in Punjabi, so everyone has a voice.
You don't need to have everything figured out, or to be in crisis, to reach out. Many people start simply because they want to feel less alone with something.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my parents speak with the therapist in Punjabi about my child?
Yes. Sahar can meet with parents or grandparents in Punjabi to explain what their child is working on and how to help at home, while sessions with the child can be in English if that's easier for them.
Will anyone in our community find out I'm in therapy?
Yes. Everything you share is confidential and protected under Ontario's privacy law for health information (PHIPA). Your therapist won't discuss you with anyone in your family or community without your consent, except in the rare situations the law requires, such as a serious risk to someone's safety, which your therapist will explain at your first session.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly. Some insurance plans ask for a doctor's referral before they reimburse, so check your plan.
Can sessions be online?
Yes. Virtual sessions are available to anyone in Ontario using a secure video platform, which many families find easier to fit around work and school.
