Overview
What Is NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback?
NeurOptimal® is an advanced, non-linear dynamical Neurofeedback system designed to support your brain's natural capacity for self-regulation.
This fully automated, non-invasive, and medication-free technology provides real-time feedback to your central nervous system, supporting your brain's natural ability to self-regulate and move toward greater efficiency, resilience, and flexibility.
NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback can support better sleep, emotional balance, stress reduction, and mental clarity through a gentle, holistic approach that works with your brain's natural processes.
Your brain is the control centre for your mind and body — so when it functions more efficiently, improvements may be felt across multiple areas of life, including mood, focus, energy, performance, and overall sense of balance.
NeurOptimal® offers a supportive approach to mental, emotional, and physical well-being — which may help you feel more grounded and clear in your daily life.

In Our Milton Office
What a Neurofeedback Session Looks Like
Sessions take place in a quiet, comfortable room at our office at 243 Main St E in Milton. You sit comfortably while your practitioner places small sensors on your scalp and ears. They only read your brain's electrical activity; nothing is sent into your body, and there is no need to prepare your hair or skin beyond arriving as you are.
For the rest of the session, you simply relax and listen to music. When NeurOptimal® detects a sudden shift in your brain activity, the sound briefly pauses. You don't have to do anything with that pause or concentrate on it. Your brain notices it on its own, which is why many people find sessions restful, and why it works well for children who can't sit through talk-based appointments.
Before your first session, your practitioner will ask what you'd like support with, such as sleep, focus, stress or emotional regulation, and how you've been feeling lately. They will check in with you at each visit about what you're noticing so the plan stays tailored to you.
Who We See for Neurofeedback
We offer neurofeedback to children, teens and adults. Families often explore it when a child struggles with big feelings, sleep, or settling at school. Adults come to us when stress, burnout or poor sleep have been wearing them down, or after a concussion or a difficult period of life when they want support for their nervous system alongside other care.
Neurofeedback is not a diagnosis, a treatment for any medical or mental health condition, or a replacement for care from your doctor. Experiences vary from person to person. If you're under a doctor's care or take medication, keep them informed and continue any treatment they've recommended.
Neurofeedback Alongside Therapy
Some clients combine neurofeedback with counselling, either as separate appointments or in a single combined neurofeedback and therapy session. This can suit people working on anxiety, trauma or ADHD and emotional regulation, who want support for both the body and the mind. We're happy to talk through which option fits during a free 15-minute consultation.
Accessibility
Accessibility & Approach
NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback is highly accessible — no prescription, invasive testing, or diagnosis is required. You can begin at any time with curiosity and a desire to feel more balanced and regulated.
While NeurOptimal® supports overall well-being, it is not a medical diagnostic tool. Its purpose is to gently guide the brain toward improved stability, resilience, and regulation.
Common Questions
Neurofeedback in Milton: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I get neurofeedback in Milton?
Co & Associates offers NeurOptimal® neurofeedback sessions in person at our office at 243 Main St E, Suites 201 & 203, in Milton, Ontario, with free on-site parking. We see clients from Milton, Halton Hills, Oakville, Burlington and across Halton.
What is NeurOptimal® neurofeedback and how does it work?
NeurOptimal® is a non-invasive neurofeedback system. Small sensors placed on your scalp and ears read your brain's electrical activity while you listen to music. When the system detects a sudden shift in activity, the sound briefly pauses. That moment of feedback gives your brain information it can use to regulate itself. Nothing is sent into the brain.
Is neurofeedback safe? Are there any side effects?
NeurOptimal® is non-invasive and medication-free; the sensors only read activity. Many people find sessions relaxing. Some notice temporary tiredness, changes in sleep or vivid dreams after a session; let your practitioner know about anything you notice so sessions can be adjusted.
How many neurofeedback sessions will I need?
It varies from person to person. Your practitioner will talk with you about your goals, suggest a starting plan, and check in regularly about what you're noticing. Some people book a short series of sessions, others continue longer. Sessions can be scheduled one to three times a week.
Can neurofeedback help with anxiety and stress?
Some people choose neurofeedback to support stress management and emotional regulation, either on its own or alongside therapy. Experiences vary, and neurofeedback is not a treatment for any medical or mental health condition. If anxiety is your main concern, we can also talk with you about anxiety therapy, or combined neurofeedback and therapy sessions.
Can children do neurofeedback?
Yes. Children, teens and adults can do NeurOptimal® sessions. Children simply relax and listen to music while they train, and parents can talk with the practitioner about staying in the room. We'll talk with you about your child's needs before starting.
Do I need a referral or diagnosis to start neurofeedback?
No referral or diagnosis is needed. Neurofeedback does not diagnose or treat any condition, so you can begin whenever you're ready. If you're under a doctor's care, let them know you're starting neurofeedback.
Is neurofeedback covered by insurance?
Coverage depends on your plan. Sessions may be covered under extended health benefits when provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or Registered Psychotherapist (RP). We provide receipts after each session; check your plan for details.
