ADHD & Autism Assessments

ADHD & Autism Assessments in Milton and Across Ontario

Virtual psychological assessments with a Registered Psychologist, for children, teens and adults.

Maybe a teacher has raised concerns about your child's focus. Maybe your teen is working twice as hard as their friends for the same marks. Or maybe you're an adult who has always wondered why some things that seem easy for others have felt so hard for you. A psychological assessment can bring clarity, and with it, a plan.

Co & Associates offers virtual ADHD assessments for children, teens and adults, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments for adults, with Dr. Kerris Oates, Registered Psychologist. Assessments are completed online, so you can take part from home anywhere in Ontario.

Assessments we offer

Each assessment has its own page with more detail about what's involved and who it's for.

Who provides the assessments

Assessments are provided by Dr. Kerris Oates, Ph.D., C.Psych., a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario since 2008. She has worked in private practice, multidisciplinary medical clinics, educational settings and specialized mental health programs, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University's Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Her approach is warm, collaborative, culturally responsive and strengths-based.

What an assessment involves

Every assessment is tailored to the person and the question being asked, but most follow the same general steps. It starts with a conversation about what's been happening and what you hope to learn. Dr. Kerris then gathers information through clinical interviews, a detailed developmental and personal history, and standardized questionnaires completed by you and, where helpful, by people who know you well, such as parents, teachers or a partner. Some assessments include additional testing to understand attention, learning or thinking skills, or to look at other explanations for the difficulties.

Once everything has been gathered, you'll meet for a feedback session to go over the results, including whether a diagnosis applies, and talk through recommendations. You'll also receive a written report that you can share with your doctor, school, post-secondary accessibility office or employer if you choose.

Why Choose a Comprehensive Assessment Rather Than an Online Quiz?

Online ADHD and Autism quizzes or screening questionnaires can be useful starting points, but they cannot officially establish a diagnosis.

A comprehensive assessment by a psychologist goes further by examining developmental history, current functioning, strengths, challenges, and the possible influence of other psychological, medical, or environmental factors.

This means that, rather than relying on a single questionnaire score, Dr. Kerris integrates information from multiple sources using professional clinical judgment.

The goal isn't simply to determine whether someone meets diagnostic criteria. It's to develop a meaningful clinical picture that can guide appropriate recommendations and next steps.

Why an assessment can help

An assessment isn't only about a label. It can explain long-standing patterns, highlight strengths that have been overlooked, and point to practical strategies and supports at school, at work and at home. For some people it also opens the door to accommodations, or to a conversation with their doctor about treatment options. And for many, it brings relief and self-understanding after years of wondering.
