Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Psychotherapy in Milton
Do I need a referral to see a psychotherapist in Milton?
No. You do not need a referral from a doctor or other healthcare provider to access psychotherapy at Co & Associates. You can self-refer by booking directly through our website or by contacting our office. Please note that some extended health benefit providers may require a referral for reimbursement purposes.
What is the difference between a psychotherapist and a counsellor?
In Ontario, "Registered Psychotherapist" (RP) is a protected title regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Registered Psychotherapists must meet specific education, training, and ethical standards. "Counsellor" is not a regulated title in Ontario. At Co & Associates, all our therapists are either Registered Psychotherapists or Registered Social Workers — both regulated professions.
Does insurance cover psychotherapy in Milton?
Many extended health benefit plans cover services provided by Registered Psychotherapists (RP) and Registered Social Workers (RSW). We provide receipts that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. We recommend checking with your provider to confirm your specific coverage.
How long does psychotherapy take?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and circumstances. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy (6-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term support. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine a pace and duration that feels right.
Do you offer evening and weekend appointments?
Yes. Many of our therapists offer daytime, evening, and weekend availability to accommodate different schedules. Please check our online booking portal for the most current availability.
