About Omniya
Hello
Your child or teenager may be struggling with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, low self-esteem, or changes that are difficult to put into words. You may be a parent wondering how to support them without creating more tension—or a young adult trying to understand your identity, relationships, and place in the world. Therapy can offer a safe space to slow down, make sense of what is happening, and begin moving forward.
Hi, I’m Omniya. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. My goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment where children, adolescents, young adults, and families can feel comfortable being themselves, sharing what is on their minds, and exploring their experiences at a pace that feels right for them.
I am a student therapist at McMaster University and provide counselling under clinical supervision. Before pursuing psychotherapy, I worked as a Child and Youth Worker for four years, supporting children, youth, and families in mental health and community settings. This experience taught me the importance of building trust, recognizing each person’s strengths, and looking beyond what may be visible on the surface. Difficult emotions and behaviours often communicate something important, and I approach them with curiosity, empathy, and compassion.
As a first-generation immigrant, I also understand some of the complexities that can come with navigating different cultures, particularly during adolescence and emerging adulthood. Growing up between cultural expectations can raise important questions about identity, belonging, family relationships, and personal values. These experiences have shaped my appreciation for the ways culture influences how we understand ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world.
My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I support clients experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, life transitions, and concerns related to cultural identity and belonging. I also work collaboratively with parents who want to better understand their child’s needs, strengthen their relationship, and respond to challenges with greater confidence and connection.
Together, we can explore what you or your child are experiencing, understand patterns that may be contributing to current difficulties, and develop practical ways to cope and move toward meaningful change. You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Whether you know exactly what you would like support with or are still trying to make sense of what is happening, you are welcome to begin wherever you are.
I offer counselling in both English and Arabic, with in-office therapy sessions in Milton and virtual counselling available across Ontario. I am currently accepting new clients and complimentary consultations. If you are wondering whether I may be the right fit for you, your child, or your family, I would be honoured to connect.
